One July 10, 2012, the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors (BOS) approved BOS Agreement Number (No.) 12-079/Department of Transportation (DOT) Agreement No. 110123 with Willdan Engineering for professional structural engineering and design work required to support completion of a construction-ready Plans, Specifications and Estimate (PS&E) package for the replacement of Mattole River Bridge on Briceland Road.
Summary of Request:
To date, the County has completed National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) clearance for the Briceland Bridge Replacement Project. The original contract with Willdan Engineering expired on December 31, 2024. DOT Agreement No. 260005 provides for preliminary engineering and design work, including environmental studies, plans, specifications, and estimates, needed to complete the Briceland Road Bridge Replacement Project over the Mattole River. Consor North America, Inc. has agreed to perform the required work for a not-to-exceed amount of $530,000. Costs of the project are fully funded through the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Highway Bridge Program (HBP) and Toll Credits. Future amendments for additional work will be determined based on supplemental funding from FHWA. DOT requests the Board approve the agreement with Consor North America, Inc. in the amount of $530,000. Because additional studies or additional field investigations are often identified during design, DOT deems it prudent to authorize the Director of Transportation a 10% contingency of $53,000 to process contract amendments as needed to facilitate timely completion of the work.
