Summary of Request:
California Department of Social Services (CDSS) has established “The Work Number” online employment and income verification services for California counties to utilize for the California Work and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs) and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) (or CalFresh) programs. CDSS has contracted with TALX Corporation, a provider of Equifax Verification Services, to verify consumer-recipient employment, income and other work-related information.
The proposed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between CDSS and the County of Mendocino, authorizes the County to access “The Work Number” employment and income verification services, to retrieve and verify certain employment and/or income data of consumers-recipients applying for or currently receiving public social service assistance in Mendocino County.
