Summary of Request:
The proposed Agreement provides tiered funding for Transitional Housing Program-Plus (THP-Plus), a
program that offers supportive housing for an average of five eligible young adults per month, who are at least eighteen years of age and not yet twenty-five years old and who have exited foster care or juvenile probation on or after their eighteenth birthday for up to thirty-six cumulative months.
The program provides youth with housing and services to assist youth and young adults in developing skills for becoming independent and self-sufficient. Supportive services include case management, life skills training, education and employment services, and health including prenatal care and parenting support; crisis intervention and behavioral health services; long-term housing navigation; and aftercare services to ensure successful independent housing retention and living skills.
Redwood Community Services, Inc. (RCS) is currently the only agency in Mendocino County approved by the California Department of Social Services to provide THP-Plus. During FY 24-25, RCS served 15 unduplicated youth averaging 8-9 youth per month. During FY 24-25, the agreement included non-foster/probation youth; 6 unduplicated former foster/probation youth were served during this period.
