Summary of Request:
Since 2018, the California Overdose Prevention Network (COPN) has led the effort to provide a statewide forum for coalitions, organizations, and individuals working to combat the overdose crisis in California. The COPN launched the “Accelerator 5.0 Program” to support local coalitions to strive for greater impact within their communities. This program will help the Mendocino County community take a sustainability-based approach to overdose prevention. Using a guided process, the Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS) team will apply principles of sustainability to expand and strengthen existing overdose prevention activities including harm reduction, access to addiction treatment, and youth engagement. Learning groups and support from subject matter experts will help the team focus on sustainability strategies, giving BHRS the ability to customize the program experience to meet specific needs within the community.
BHRS created the proposed grant application for the COPN Accelerator 5.0 Program, submitted it to Public Health Institute (PHI) on September 20, 2023, and is now seeking Board of Supervisors (BOS) ratification of application submission, and approval for the BHRS Director to execute the grant Agreement. Through the grant Agreement, BHRS will use funds to support the approved sustainability project planned for summer of 2024.
Due to time constraints, the grant application was submitted to PHI prior to BOS approval. BHRS is now seeking BOS ratification of the grant application, and authorization for the BHRS Director to execute the grant Agreement.
