RECOMMENDED ACTION/MOTION:

Approve Agreement with County of Shasta Probation Department in the amount of $600,000 with a maximum of $200,000 per fiscal year, to provide detention services for Mendocino County youth placed in the facility for the remainder of Fiscal Year 2023-24 through Fiscal Year 2025-26; authorize Chief Probation Officer to sign any future amendments which do not increase the total contract amount; and authorize Chair to sign same.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
Shasta County Juvenile Rehabilitation Facility is among a select number of probation departments that offer housing for secure track youth population, services/programming available based on the needs of the youth, or age of the youth to be placed. Secure track youth are individuals whose care and custody has been realigned to local probation departments as a result of SB 823, who prior to SB 823, would have been sentenced to the care and custody of the Division of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) for the duration of their sentence. Shasta County provides services for secure track youth with special programming/service needs.
