PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
The Board has supported the Ag Department's effort to replace its failing intermediate capacity weight truck, beginning in 2021. At that time, $40,000 in General Fund (GF) was allocated as a loan toward this expense, with the stipulation that the GF be repaid with departmental revenue. The Board's adopted FY 2026/27 budget includes funding for this purchase and authorized adding it to the County list of fixed assets.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
There is need to replace the County's current intermediate capacity weight truck. The Board previously allocated $40,000 in General Fund toward this purchase, which has been repaid with departmental revenue. At this time $200,000 in departmental revenue has been set aside, and the adopted FY 2026/27 budget includes $220,000 to support the purchase of a replacement truck. Purchased new, this type of weight truck includes components such as a cab/chassis, crane/outriggers, and a work bed that must be procured and assembled. Staff have preliminarily identified opportunities to purchase fully outfitted and functional used weight trucks, with pricing that is appropriately reduced by depreciation, or new old stock equipment that may become available.
