Approve Agreement with Buckelew Programs in the amount of $65,000 to provide Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) Prevention and Early Intervention (PEI) suicide prevention services and crisis telephone counseling to Mendocino County residents, Effective July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026; authorize the Health Services Director to sign any future amendments that do not increase the annual maximum amount; and authorize Chair to sign same.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
Buckelew Programs' Suicide Prevention program operates a free and confidential 24/7 crisis hotline for anyone experiencing suicidal thoughts and/or emotional distress. They also provide outreach, education, and survivor's support services to Marin, Sonoma, Lake, and Mendocino counties. In addition, they manage the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, which is a new three-digit number for mental health, substance use, and suicidal crises.

Buckelew Program delivers culturally sensitive and timely suicide prevention services through toll-free numbers and, is available to all residents of Mendocino County regardless of insurance status. They also make referrals to local providers for crisis assessments. Suicide prevention is part of the PEI section of MHSA.
