SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The Sheriff's Office requests approval to purchase a LEMUR 2 tactical drone kit specifically for law enforcement and public safety operations. The package includes the drone, associated accessories, and software that provides real-time situational awareness, communication capabilities, and mapping tools to support critical incident response. Acquisition of this equipment will enhance the Sheriff's Office ability to conduct criminal Investigations and protect lives and property, particularly in circumstances where alternative resources are limited or less effective. Under the Sheriff's Office Military Equipment Use Policy 709, Section 709.1.1, Ordinance No. 4551, and pursuant to AB 481, the LEMUR 2 system is classified as military equipment. The requested vendor, BRINC Drones, Inc., has been awarded a nationwide cooperative purchasing agreement through Sourcewell, which the Sheriff's Office may utilize for this procurement.
