Approve Agreement with County of San Luis Obispo Probation Department in the amount of $143,325, to provide detention services for Mendocino County youth placed in the facility for the period of July 1, 2023, through June 30, 2024; authorize the Chief Probation Officer to sign any future amendments which do not increase the total contract amount; and authorize Chair to sign same.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
San Luis Obispo (SLO) County Probation Coastal Valley Academy (CVA) is among a select number of probation departments that offers a specialized camp program for juveniles (male and female) between the ages of 14 to 17. CVA is a custody commitment program that provides residential treatment programming for wards of the juvenile court who have been removed from the homes of their parent(s)/guardian(s). The program components include intensive case management, evidence-based treatment programming, and vocational and educational services. Program length varies based upon the individual needs and circumstances of each youth as well as progress in treatment and overall behavior. Program length is generally from 6 months to 1 year. The goal of the CVA is to safely return youth to the community after reducing their risk of future delinquent behavior by improving their reasoning and avoidance skills and providing them with positive pro-social replacement activities.
