Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:
The Board approved Resolution to submit the application for the hazard abatement planning project to HCD at the July 9, 2024, meeting.

The General Government Standing Committee discussed this project at the February 28, 2024, March 27, 2024, April 24, 2024, and May 22, 2024, meetings.

Summary of Request:
This project resulted from the General Government Standing Committee’s discussions from February to May 2024 on Hazard Abatement. Per the Committee’s direction staff found a source of funding for the project and began working on an application to the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD)’s Mitigation Planning and Public Services (PPS) program in Summer 2024. After the lengthy application process, accepting the award, executing standard agreement with HCD, and issuing Request for Proposal, staff is presenting the selected consultant’s contract for approval.

This project will devise an improved regulatory approach for the County to address hazardous vegetation and combustible material to reduce fire hazards.
