SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The City of Fort Bragg is in its second year with its Care Response Unit. The program was originally grant funded by the Department of Justice to reduce calls for service by the Police Department in regard to the homeless and mentally ill. It was modeled after the recommendations found in the 2018 Homeless Needs Assessment Report given by Robert Marbut to the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors. The approach has demonstrated success, including reduction on Hospital Emergency Room. The goal of the presentation is to share the success story and highlight the need for additional state or federal funding. Could this model be broadened to other parts of the county?
ALTERNATIVE ACTION/MOTION:
Return to staff for alternate handling.
