PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
The Board previously approved a Lunch at the Library grant award on February 27, 2024.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The California State Library provides an annual funding opportunity for libraries to coordinate with local food providers to serve lunch and provide educational activities for students up to age 18. During the summer months, youth have limited access to healthy meals and learning and enrichment programs. Lunch at the Library helps prevent the "summer slide" through healthy meals, reading, and educational opportunities.

This is the third year that Mendocino County Library has applied for this grant which provides the program at five of our library branches. The program serves our communities in a holistic way, creating a summer safety net by feeding both stomachs and minds. Mendocino County Library is partnering with local school districts which will provide the meals and the library staff will provide the enrichment activities. Grant funds will be used for supplies and materials, employee expenses, and promotion of the program. The Library has been awarded $27,323 to fund this very popular summer progr...
