RECOMMENDED ACTION/MOTION:

Approve retroactive revenue Agreement No. 2024-25 with the U.S. Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration (DOJ, DEA) in the amount of $78,000 for the eradication and suppression of illicit cannabis on federal lands for the term of October 1, 2023, through September 30, 2024; authorize the Sheriff to sign any future amendments that do not affect the annual maximum Agreement total; and authorize Chair to sign same.

PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
On September 12, 2023, the Board ratified the submission of the 2023-24 application for Domestic Cannabis Eradication/Suppression Program (DCE/SP) funding.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The U.S. DOJ, DEA works with local law enforcement agencies regarding illicit cannabis eradication activities on Federal lands within their jurisdiction. The funds are used to defray costs relating to the eradication and suppression of illicit cannabis. The Agreement runs from October 1, 2023 through September 30, 2024. The Sheriff's Office is presenting the Agreement for retroactive approval because it was not received from the DOJ, DEA until April 25, 2024.
