RECOMMENDED ACTION/MOTION:

Approve Agreement with County of Lake Probation Department to provide detention services for youth placed in the Mendocino County Juvenile Hall ("Facility") effective April 1, 2025, with a maximum amount of $250,000 per fiscal year; authorize the Chief Probation Officer to sign any future amendments which do not increase the total contract amount; and authorize Chair to sign same.

PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
The Board of Supervisors approved the first amendment to PA Agreement #23-113 on May 21, 2024, in
the amount of $175,000 for a new Agreement total of $200,000.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
Lake County closed their juvenile hall in 2015. Mendocino County provided youth detention housing for Lake County for the period of October 15, 2015, through September 30, 2017. Lake County subsequently contracted with other counties to provide detention services. Lake County Probation requested to enter into a daily bed rate contract with Mendocino County due to other counties with whom they were contracting had insufficient bed space to accommodate their needs. Mendocino and Lake counties entered into an agreement effective June 20, 2023, through June 30, 2025, to provide youth detention housing services on an as-needed basis at a daily rate of $175.00 when Mendocino County Juvenile Hall has available bed capacity.
