RECOMMENDED ACTION/MOTION:

Approve first amendment to BOS Agreement 24-002 with SHN Consulting Engineers & Geologists, a California Corporation, to extend the termination date from December 31, 2025, to March 31, 2026, and increase the total amount payable by $53,800.00, for a new Agreement total of $198,800.00 for special inspections and material testing for the Jail Project; and authorize Chair to sign same.

PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
On September 10, 2025 The Board of Supervisors approved the professionals services agreement with SHN Consulting Engineers to perform special inspections and structural testing for the Jail Project.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The contract amount in the original agreement with SHN for special inspections and testing was based on SHN's estimate if the number of required site visits needed to perform the inspections required by the project plans and code requirements, however, the terms of agreement stated that the inspection frequency would be determined by the jail construction contractor's construction schedule. The contractors schedule ultimately required 26 more site visits than were estimated. In addition, 21 inspections failed requiring additional follow up inspections.
