RECOMMENDED ACTION/MOTION:

Adopt Resolution granting permission for the Mendocino County Fair and Apple Show to hold a parade on Sunday, September 20, 2026, between 12:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. along Highway 128 in Boonville; authorize the Clerk of the Board to forward copies of the Resolution to the District Permit Coordinator, Caltrans (Eureka), the California Highway Patrol, and the Fair Manager; and authorize the Chair to sign same.

PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
The Board of Supervisors has approved the parade annually since 1986. The last action of the Board was on July 22, 2025.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
Representatives of the Mendocino County Fair and Apple Show are requesting permission to hold a parade on Sunday, September 20, 2026, in Boonville. The parade will commence on Manchester Road and proceed along Highway 128 to the Fairgrounds. The parade will begin at 12:00 p.m. and last approximately one and one-half hours.

Cooperation will be provided to the California Highway Patrol and the Mendocino County Sheriff's Department in allowing traffic to proceed on the highway, as only one lane is needed to conduct the parade. In order for the parade to be held, the Mendocino County Fair and Apple Show is seeking permission from the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors pursuant to the Department of Transportation and California Highway Patrol Joint Policy Guidelines for Special Events on State Conventional Highway Rights-of-Way.
