SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
First responders to fire and medical calls here in Mendocino County typically come from volunteer fire fighters. As such, the Board of Supervisors honors the sacrifice these residents make for their community and supports their service when possible, within the constraints of the County budget. Over the decades the Board has approved funding to CalFire to provide dispatch services to the volunteer fire departments, and in more recent years the Board has allocated proceeds from Proposition 172, PG&E settlement, Campground Transient Occupancy Tax dollars, and a voter-approved sales tax (Measure P) to provide the departments with essential equipment.
