PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
On June 22, 2021, the Board of Supervisors adopted the Master Position Allocation Table for the FY 2021-2022 Budget, Resolution Number 21-090.
SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The Human Resources Department is charged, as part of the overall maintenance of the classification and compensation plan, to evaluate current classifications, create new classifications (including appropriate salary levels), reclassify positions, examine requests for salary grade adjustments, analyze allocations, and make recommendations for additions, modifications, and corrections.
This request to revise the salary of Air Pollution Control Officer (APCO) from $105,622.40-$128,398.40/annually, to $113,464.00-$137,924.80/annually is due to the current salary being considerably behind that of benchmark agencies, and the inability to effectively recruit to fill the vacancy. Additionally, as the lowest paid Department Head, APCO salary range lags considerably behind other Mendocino County Department Heads given its scope of work and the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the job.
