Approve first amendment to BOS Agreement No. 25-045 with Jones Mayer, in the amount of $50,000 for a new total of $100,000, to continue to provide advice and representation regarding County of Mendocino liability and litigation, effective upon execution through June 30, 2027; and authorize Chair to sign same.

PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
On May 20, 2025, the Board of Supervisors approved Agreement No. 25-045 with Jones Mayer in the amount of $50,000 to provide legal services for the litigation matter of April James et al. v. Matthew Kendall et al., U.S. District Court, Northern District, Case No. 1:25-cv-03736-RMI.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
County Counsel provides legal representation, advice and counsel to the County, its governing Board of Supervisors, County Departments, various special districts, and other public agencies, as mandated and authorized by California statutes and local ordinances. The County has retained various outside law firms to represent the County in a variety of legal matters, to provide specialized legal services and to defend and represent the County in complex litigation. Jones Mayer Law (Firm) provides legal services for the litigation matter of April James et al. v. Matthew Kendall et al., U.S. District Court, Northern District, Case No. 1:25-cv-03736-RMI.
