RECOMMENDED ACTION/MOTION:

Adopt Resolution appointing Sara Pierce as Interim Chief Executive Officer for a period up to six months or until a permanent Chief Executive Officer is appointed and setting salary at $202,716.80 ($344,618 including benefits); compensation and benefits governed by Mendocino County Code Section 3.04.120; and authorize Chair to sign same.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The current Chief Executive Officer's term expires on July 12, 2026, and the incumbent has indicated she will not continue in the position. To ensure continuity of County operations while the Board of Supervisors considers a permanent appointment, this resolution appoints Sara Pierce, currently serving as Assistant Chief Executive Officer, as Interim Chief Executive Officer effective July 13, 2026.

The resolution authorizes Ms. Pierce to perform all duties of the Chief Executive Officer and provides that she will serve at the pleasure of the Board for a period of up to six months, or until a permanent Chief Executive Officer is appointed, whichever occurs first. The resolution also establishes compensation and benefits consistent with County Code and provides Ms. Pierce with the right to return to her former position of Assistant Chief Executive Officer upon the appointment of a permanent Chief Executiv...
