Approve retroactive Memorandum of Understanding between County of Sonoma Public Health Laboratory and County of Mendocino Department of Public Health, in the amount of $539,469, for public health lab services, effective July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2029; authorize the Director of Health Services or designee to sign any future amendments that do not increase the maximum amount; and authorize Chair to sign same.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
Per California State Code, counties with populations over 88,000 are required to provide public health laboratory services. California State Code does not require counties to maintain their own laboratory, but does require counties to arrange for the provision of mandated testing. The County of Mendocino has fulfilled testing requirements through contracts with outside agencies since the closure of the County of Mendocino Public Health Laboratory in 2009.
Through such contracts, for several years the County of Sonoma Public Health Laboratory (SCPHL) has provided the County of Mendocino Department of Public Health (MCPH) with laboratory services for the Mendocino County community.
