PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
May 1, 1987 the County entered into a Joint Criminal Justice Facility Sublease and Lease with the City of Willits. In 2008, the County entered into a Joint Occupancy Agreement (BOS Agreement No. 08-208) with the JCC. The Board has directed operations be consolidated to reduce physical footprint and expenses.
SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The building housing the Willits Superior Court was commonly referred to as the Willits Justice Center. In addition to the Court, at one time the facility also included staff from the District Attorney's Office, Sheriff's Office, Probation Department, and the Willits Police Department. Recently, the Cannabis Department operated in this building. Current staff assigned to work at the site are from the Probation Department, Public Health, Behavioral Health & Recovery Services, and the Willits Police Department. The JCC has negotiated a purchase price of $370,000 for the State's equity rights of approximately 4,487 square feet, previously designated for exclusive use by the Court and currently sitting vacant.
