Ratify submission of grant application for the FY 2025 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Equipment and Training Program in the amount of $69,896 for investigative equipment, crisis intervention training, and de-escalation/mental health trainings between October 1, 2025, through September 30, 2026; and authorize the Sheriff to accept the funds and sign the resulting Revenue Agreement upon award by the Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC).

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
On July 18, 2025, the BSCC announced the release of the FY 2025 Edward Byrne Memorial JAG Equipment and Training Program Request for Applications. The one-time request is a formula-based, non-competitive grant that will cover the period of October 1, 2025, through September 30, 2026. The JAG Equipment and Training Program provides funding to California counties for equipment, supplies, and training initiatives related to select Program Purpose Areas (PPA) in law enforcement, such as violent crime reduction initiatives, drug enforcement, crisis intervention training, and mental health trainings.
