RECOMMENDED ACTION/MOTION:

Ratify submission of grant application to the California Department of Health Care Services, for the Behavioral Health Mentored Internship Program grant, for the anticipated project period of April 1, 2022 through September 29, 2023; and authorize the Director of Behavioral Health and Recovery Services to sign any resulting Agreement awarded, up to $440,471.79, and any amendments that do not increase the maximum amount.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) has enacted a Behavioral Health Workforce Development (BHWD) program to address the critical shortage of behavioral health providers in the state. BHWD has Behavioral Health Mentored Internship Program (MIP) grant funds available to assist organizations in developing and implementing in-house mentored internship programs to assist in the treatment and recovery of patients with substance use disorders, mental health disorders, or co-occurring disorders.

Mendocino County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS) applied for the MIP grant on February 18, 2022, and if awarded funds, will work with Cal Poly Humboldt to develop an MIP program.
