SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
In 2021, the Executive Office conducted a Request for Proposals (RFP-007-21) for Conflict Public Defender Services, to find an attorney to provide comprehensive legal services for felony and juvenile case appearances, hearings and trials in the Ten Mile Court Branch of the Mendocino County Superior Court. Since there are limited attorneys providing services on the Mendocino County coast, the RFP only produced one proposal and was awarded to Bart Kronfeld, ESQ., who has been performing these services consecutively ever since.
The latest Agreement with Mr. Kronfeld for these services expires on December 31, 2025, and changing to a different attorney would cause a delay and gap in services. As a result, the proposed renewal Agreement for these services for the remainder of FY 25/26 and 26/27 will keep services consecutive and consistent until the County decides to process a new RFP.
