PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
Board of Supervisors most recently approved grant acceptance for the annual Zip Books program award on October 17, 2023: item 3n.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
Zip Books provide patrons with quick access to print books, large-type books, and audiobooks which may not be available through the Library by providing funding for the books to be purchased and mailed directly to the patrons from a vendor. The patrons then return the books to the library, and they may be added to the collection and made available to others. This is a very popular program, and patrons look forward to it each year.

The Cultural Services Agency is requesting retroactive application submission approval for the Zip Books grant in the amount of $14,000, and per Policy No. 25, the CEO authorized the submission. The Zip Books Program helps the County towards the goal of "An Effective County Government" by providing needed reading materials at no cost to patrons which can then be added to the collection.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION/MOTION:
Do not approve and provide alternate direction.
