RECOMMENDED ACTION/MOTION:

Adopt Resolution setting the dog licensing period for dogs licensed in Mendocino County; Introduce and waive reading of Ordinance Amending Title 10 of Mendocino County Code Regarding Animals, reducing dog license renewal period to thirty days; and authorize Chair to sign same.

PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
Title 10 of the Mendocino County Code was amended previously by Ordinance Number 4421 on December 18, 2018.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The proposed ordinance would amend Title 10 of the Mendocino County Code, including adding section 10.16.020 addressing Veterinarian Reporting Requirements. Proposed amendments include adding language to Title 10 that requires all Veterinarians practicing or located within Mendocino County to submit a copy of all rabies certificates issued to Animal Care Services via U.S. Postal mail or electronically in an agreed upon reporting format. The approval of the ordinance will enhance the rabies control recording system by giving Animal Care Services immediate access to owned animals' rabies vaccination records that may be needed in a public health emergency / rabies outbreak.
