PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
The Board of Supervisors approved BOS Agreement No. 24-009 with Liebert Cassidy Whitmore on January 23, 2024. On October 8, 2024, the Board of Supervisors approved BOS Agreement No. 24-009-A1 increasing the total amount by $100,000 for a new total of $200,000.
SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
County Counsel provides legal representation, advice and counsel to the County, its governing Board of Supervisors, County Departments, various special districts, and other public agencies, as mandated and authorized by California statutes and local ordinances. From time to time, the County has retained various outside law firms to represent the County in a variety of legal matters to provide specialized legal services and to defend and represent the County in complex litigation. Liebert Cassidy Whitmore provides legal services for defense of the litigation matter of Chamise Cubbison v. Mendocino County, et al., Case No. 23CV01231. County Counsel is requesting the Board approve the first amendment to the agreement in the amount of $200,000 for a new total of $400,000.
