Adopt ordinance repealing Chapter 7.04 of the Mendocino County Code to dissolve the Mendocino County Disaster Council; and authorize Chair to sign same.

PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
On August 29, 2023, the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors conducted a public discussion and directed the County Counsel to return to the Board of Supervisors with the necessary actions to dissolve the Mendocino County Disaster Council.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
County Counsel and the Executive Office worked with departments to identify existing boards, committees, commissions, and advisory bodies that are not required by statute, citizen's initiative, or other laws. After those discussions, it was unanimously recommended that the ordinance creating the Mendocino County Disaster Council be amended to dissolve the Council. This change will reduce the administrative burden on the County.

On August 29, 2023, the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors conducted a public discussion and directed the County Counsel to return to the Board of Supervisors with the necessary actions to dissolve the Mendocino County Disaster Council.

On April 23, 2024, the Board of Supervisors introduced and waived the first reading of the ordinance.
