Adopt Resolution approving the application for funds under the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) to improve the Administration of Election for Federal Office, including to enhance election technology and/or make election security improvements, authorizing the County Clerk-Recorder to conduct all negotiations, execute and submit all documents, and authorize the Mendocino County Assessor, Clerk-Recorder to execute future Agreements with the State of California for receipts of HAVA funds for reimbursement for election activities; and authorize the Chair to sign same.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The Help America Vote Act (HAVA) of 2002 was passed by the United States Congress to make sweeping reforms to the nation's voting process. HAVA addresses improvements to voting systems and voter access that were identified following the 2000 election. Under HAVA the law provides funding to help states meet new standards, replace voting systems and improve election administration.
