SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The Human Resources Department is charged, as part of the overall maintenance of the classification and compensation plan, to evaluate current classifications, create new classifications (including appropriate salary levels), reclassify positions, examine requests for salary grade adjustments, analyze allocations, and make recommendations for additions, modifications, and corrections.

The Human Resources Department currently has a backlog of approximately 30 requests for classification studies, including requests for the development of new classifications. Some of these requests date back to March 2019. Human Resources is currently experiencing short staffing levels, including a vacant Director, Assistant Director and Human Resources Manager. CPS has conducted multiple classification studies for the County dating back to 2000, including a large study of Administrative/Clerical positions in 2007, Information Systems classes in 2007, and Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) in 2008. CPS is familiar with the County's classification and compensation plan.
