SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The Board of Supervisors is being asked to adopt a proclamation recognizing Jim Hurst for his longstanding civic leadership, volunteer service, and contributions to protecting and strengthening local health care services on the Mendocino Coast.
Jim Hurst served as a co-founder of the Mendocino Coast Hospital Foundation and played a significant leadership role in supporting the preservation and advancement of local health care services. He also served as Co-Chair of the successful Measure C Parcel Tax campaign, helping lead community outreach and advocacy efforts that resulted in voter approval of Measure C in 2018 to provide critical financial support for local hospital services.
Following the passage of Measure C, Jim Hurst was appointed Chair of the Measure C Citizen's Oversight Committee and served in that role from January 2019 through January 2026, providing leadership, accountability, and public transparency regarding oversight of Measure C parcel tax revenues.
