Approve Agreement with Davis Guest Home, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $383,850, to provide residential care to Mendocino County Lanterman-Petris-Short clients, effective July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025; authorize the Behavioral Health and Recovery Services Director or designee to sign any future amendments that do not increase the maximum amount; and authorize Chair to sign same.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The Lanterman-Petris-Short (LPS) Act is the California law governing the involuntary civil commitment of individuals who, due to mental illness, pose a danger to themselves, a danger to others, or who are gravely disabled and require inpatient psychiatric care. The intent of the LPS Act was to end inappropriate lifetime commitment of people with mental illness and firmly establish their right to due process while significantly reducing state institutional expense.
Pursuant to the requirements of the LPS Act, Mendocino County is responsible for providing residential care services to LPS clients who are court-mandated to receive a specific level of care requiring a structured environment due to mental health challenges.
