PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
On December 17, 2019, the Board approved a five-year Agreement with Bennet Omalu Pathology with a term of December 1, 2019, through December 1, 2024.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The Sheriff's Office requires the services of a forensic pathologist who has the technical expertise and experience in determining manners and causes of death in order to assist with investigations, solving and prosecuting cases, and obtaining closure. Approval of a new three-year Agreement with Bennet Omalu Pathology to continue these specialized services is being requested. Dr. Omalu is a leading expert in death investigations and has a proven track record in Mendocino County for his expertise, responsiveness, and thoroughness in conducting autopsies and forensic pathology services, which are critical in assisting the Sheriff's Office with death investigations.

This Agreement will have a total not-to-exceed amount of $2,400,000 over the course of three years, budgeted at $800,000 per fiscal year.
