PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
On March 1, 2022, Supervisor Williams sponsored and the board supported, "Discussion and Possible Action Including Approval of Direction to Staff to 1) Determine Public Interest in Increased Housing, 2) Determine Where They Want It, 3) Determine Whether They Will Accept High-Density Multi-family Structures, and 4) Propose General Plan Updates Necessary to Realize Private Industry Development". Nothing seems to have happened.

During the April 25, 2023 regular meeting, Supervisor Gjerde asked Supervisor Williams how he would address the housing shortage in Mendocino County.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
During the April 25, 2023, regular meeting, Supervisor Gjerde asked Supervisor Williams how he would address the housing shortage in Mendocino County. Supervisor Williams would exercise local land use to increase the buildable parcels because, under current regulations, most of the "easy" parcels have already been developed. By allowing residential development on parcels with adequate water and sewer capacity, and subdivision, construction will be catalyzed without government handouts. The development would facilitate the County in meeting its Housing Element.
