PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
On September 9, 2025, the Board of Supervisors referred the development of the 2026 Legislative Platform to the General Government Standing Committee pursuant to the Board of Supervisors Rules of Procedure.

On October 22, 2025, the General Government Committee reviewed the draft 2026 Legislative Platform and referred the 2026 Legislative Platform to the Board of Supervisors.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
In accordance with County Policy No. 19, the Board of Supervisors adopts an annual Legislative Platform outlining the County's priorities for legislative advocacy, state and federal funding, and key issues affecting local government.

The proposed 2026 Legislative Platform addresses: regulatory mandates and reform; governmental transparency and public access; county roads and infrastructure; climate resilience and renewable energy; disaster prevention, recovery, resiliency, and mitigation; natural resources; agriculture; economic and community development; cannabis; public safety; health and human services; public health; behavioral health; and homelessness.

Development of the 2026 Legislative Platform was led by the General Government Standing Committee, as has been standard practice since 2016. The Committee reviewed the draft on October 22, 2025, and referred it to the Board for review and adoption.
