Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:
On March 12, 2024, the Board of Supervisors approved the employment agreement setting the salary for the Position of Chief Executive Officer.

Summary of Request:
The Human Resources Department is charged, as part of the overall maintenance of the classification and compensation plan, to evaluate current classifications, create new classifications (including appropriate salary levels), reclassify positions, examine requests for salary grade adjustments, analyze allocations, and make recommendations for additions, modifications, and corrections.

At the direction of the Board of Supervisors, the Human Resources Department is bringing forward this item to revise the salary for the Chief Executive Officer position. The Board requested Human Resources to review and propose an updated salary level of $300,000 annually in response to current market conditions and the County’s recent unsuccessful recruitment efforts for the position. The proposed adjustment is intended to ensure the salary is competitive within the labor market and supports the County’s ability to attract and retain a highly qualified Chief Executive Officer.
