RECOMMENDED ACTION/MOTION:

Approve Agreement with Eversole Mortuary in the amount of $70,000, to provide for the handling and disposition of last remains of decedents of Mendocino County who have no relatives or other person legally empowered to authorize cremation and disposition, effective July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025; authorize the Department of Social Services Director or designee to sign any future amendments to the Agreement that does not increase the maximum amount; and authorize Chair to sign the same.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
Mendocino County Department of Social Services (MCDSS) issued a Request for Proposal (RFP 015-22) for indigent cremations in February 2022. Eversole Mortuary was selected to contract with MCDSS as a result of the RFP, to provide Indigent Cremation Services for the identified regions of "North County" and "Inland" within Mendocino County. Utilization review of these services from the period of July 2023 through December 2023 shows that Mendocino County processed claims for 38 County Cremations through Mendocino County Public Authority and General Assistance Services.
