PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
Over the past three years, the Board of Supervisors has ratified the Library's submission of applications and authorized acceptance of awards from the California State Library's Lunch at the Library program to provide library services and educational activities for youth at summer meal sites throughout Mendocino County.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The California State Library provides an annual funding opportunity for libraries to coordinate with local food providers to serve lunch and provide educational activities for students up to age 18. During the summer months, youth have limited access to healthy meals and learning and enrichment programs. Lunch at the Library helps prevent the "summer slide" through healthy meals, reading, and educational opportunities.

This is the fourth year that the Mendocino County Library has applied for this grant, which provides the program at six library branches.
