SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) funds Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health
(MCAH) program of the Mendocino County Department of Public Health (MCPH), to support pregnant,
breastfeeding, or postpartum women, their children, and spouses. These funds enable the MCAH program to provide services to help parents and young children. Specifically, qualifying MCAH mother participants are eligible to receive nutrition education, preventing pre-term births, increasing breastfeeding support, and referrals to medical providers, medical and mental health services providers, and community services and resources. MCAH provides these supportive services through Community Health Workers who do in-person home visits throughout Mendocino County.
