Approval of fifth amendment to BOS Agreement No. 19-265 with Bennet Omalu Pathology increasing the total Agreement amount by $100,000 for the ongoing and increased need for autopsy and forensic pathology services through the Agreement's expiration date of December 1, 2024; and authorize Chair to sign same.

PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
On December 17, 2019, the Board approved a five-year Agreement for forensic pathology services with Bennet Omalu Pathology in the amount of $1,675,000. The Board authorized the Sheriff to increase the Agreement up to $100,000 and the first amendment was processed at the department level on February 11, 2022, in the amount of $100,000. On June 13, 2022, the Board approved a second amendment that increased the Agreement total amount by $700,000. On April 11, 2023, the Board approved a third amendment that increased the Agreement total by $195,000. On June 20, 2023, the Board approved a fourth amendment that increased the Agreement total by $800,000 to cover ongoing autopsy and forensic pathology costs.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
On August 19, 2019, the Sheriff's Office released RFP SO-2019-002 which sought proposals for forensic pathology services. The RFP committee awarded Bennet Omalu Pathology the Agreement on September 30, 2019. The Agreement term is for five years, through December 1, 2024, and locks in competi...
