Summary of Request:
California Welfare and Institutions Code section 6500 provides that judicial proceedings alleging that a person with a developmental disability is dangerous to self or others, or as a result of an acute crisis, shall be presented by the District Attorney, unless the Board of Supervisors has delegated such authority to County Counsel.
The District Attorney requested that the County Counsel’s Office seek Board authorization to present petitions pursuant to California Welfare and Institutions Code section 6500. The County Counsel’s Office agrees with request.
