Ratify submission of a grant application for the FY 2023 Rural and Small Department Violent Crime Reduction Program for Law Enforcement Agencies in the amount of $300,000 for the installation and implementation of license plate reader technology to be utilized between October 1, 2023 through September 30, 2026; and authorize the Sheriff to accept funds and sign the resulting revenue Agreement if awarded by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ).

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The Rural and Small Department Violent Crime Reduction Program awards grants on a competitive basis to small law enforcement agencies and prosecutors' offices in rural locations to address the underlying crimes contributing to identified violent crime problems occurring in their jurisdictions. The anticipated maximum dollar amount of the award is $300,000. The period of performance begins on October 1, 2023 and has a duration of 36 months.
