SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The Sherwood Corridor is one of the most significant areas of concern for both Mendocino County emergency officials, CAL FIRE, and the local community. The lack of ingress/egress routes, density of development, and topography and fuel loading all contribute to this assessment and emphasize the importance of hazard mitigation within the community. The County of Mendocino has been awarded funding through Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities Program (BRIC) to increase fire resiliency by creating defensible space around critical facilities and hazardous fuels reduction in the Brooktrails Township, Sylvandale, Spring Creek and the Gates, the more densely populated neighborhoods on the Sherwood Corridor in Willits, CA.

The Wildfire Community Resilience Project will reduce wildfire risk, protect essential infrastructure, and improve evacuation safety for Brooktrails Township and surrounding communities in Mendocino County.
