SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The Citizen's Oversight Committee for Measure B voted on October 27, 2021 to recommend to the Board of Supervisors that $13,000 of Measure B Operations/Services funds be used to reimburse the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) for Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training that took place on December 1-3, 2021 at the Behavioral Health Regional Training Center located in Redwood Valley.

This training for MCSCO corrections and patrol staff covered skills and resources available to police officers, mental health staff, and other first responders when responding to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis with the overall goals of increasing first responders' awareness of the debilitating nature of mental illness and promoting positive contacts between first responders and those who live with mental illness. There were 22 individuals that attended the training.

Mendocino County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS) has applied for a grant that will fund three CIT trainings per year and would alleviate the need to utilize Measure B funds towards such trainings in the future if awarded.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION/MOTION:
Return to staff for alternative handling.
