The Board of Supervisors annually adopts a Proclamation recognizing May as Mental Health Month; this proclamation was last adopted on May 3, 2016.

 

Summary of Request

May is recognized by the National Mental Health Association and the National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare as Mental Health Month.  Supervisor Hamburg requests that the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors proclaim May as Mental Health Month in Mendocino County, and support public outreach and education activities during this period.  Knowledge and education are of fundamental importance to mental health professionals and advocates alike.  Acceptance of this Proclamation assists in promoting awareness of mental health and mental illness concerns to the citizens of Mendocino County.
