Summary of Request

Starting with John F. Kennedy in 1963, every U.S. President has paid tribute to older Americans in the month of May.  It began as “Senior Citizens Month” and changed in 1980 to “Older Americans Month” For the past 17 years the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors has signed a proclamation recognizing May as Older Americans Month, joining with the President of the United States to acknowledge the past and present contributions of older persons.  Also recognized are the services provided by Adult and Aging Services to our community within the County of Mendocino through the Health and Human Services Agency.
