PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
On March 20, 2017 the Board of Supervisors made a referral to the General Government Committee regarding the inclusionary housing ordinance. On April 4, 2017 the Board of Supervisors made a referral to the General Government Committee regarding accessory dwelling units. On May 8, 2017 both of these referrals were heard by the General Government Committee.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
At its May 8, 2017, meeting, the General Government Committee discussed three housing policies that were referred to it by the full board. The General Government Committee is bringing forward proposals for two of those policies: 1) to encourage the construction of accessory dwelling units and 2) to regulate short-term rentals. The committee did not formulate a proposal for the third item: inclusionary housing. The General Government Committee welcomes feedback and direction from the full board on all three housing policies. With board direction, County planning staff would meet with stakeholders, and possibly one or two supervisors, as assigned, before drafting amendments to county codes.
