PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
The Mendocino County Board of Supervisors has approved support letters in the past few years for grant proposals submitted by the Eel River Recovery Project to continue their work in the Eel River watershed.
SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The Eel River Recovery Project (ERRP) wants to continue its work to assist Eel River cannabis farmers and communities to conserve water, prevent pollution and restore beneficial uses. The project currently being pursued is a California Coastal Conservancy Proposition 1 grant for Tenmile Creek near Laytonville that is one of the most important tributaries of the South Fork Eel River in Mendocino County. Tenmile Creek historically supported substantial runs of coho salmon, Chinook salmon and steelhead trout, but for the last several years the stream has lost surface flow in late summer and developed a major problem with invasive warm water aquatic species that escape from upstream water storage ponds.
ERRP is requesting a letter of support for the Proposition 1 grant proposal.
