PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
Board Agreement #15-089, August 13, 2015 Agreement for forensic pathology services.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
In August of 2015, the Board of Supervisors approved an Agreement for forensic pathology services for the Sheriff Office. The current agreement expires September 14, 2017. The services were due for a Request for Proposal (RFP) prior to the 2017 renewal. The County of Sonoma conducted an RFP in the fall of 2016 for forensic pathology services and awarded an agreement in mid-2017 for the services. The County of Sonoma RFP included a "piggy-back" clause where other government agencies could use the results of the RFP for their purposes. The Mendocino County Sheriff Office has elected to invoke the "piggy-back" clause and has worked with the County's Central Services and Executive Office to negotiate an agreement for the county's forensic pathology autopsy and related services for fiscal years 2017-2020. This vendor is also serving Sonoma County and has access to more than one doctor for better service and coverage of our county.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION/MOTION:
Return to staff for alternate handling.
